Plot

The Jackal is an elusive assassin who makes a living committing murders for the highest sums of money. He soon meets his match in the form of a tenacious British intelligence officer who hunts him down in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. The novel « The Day of the Jackal » is set in 1963 and involved an assassination attempt on then-French President Charles de Gaulle.

The series moves the setting to the present day

Referenced in Graham Norton and the Gosti: Denzel Washington/Paul Mescal/Saoirse Ronan/Eddie Redmayne/Blossoms (2024). This would have been an exceptional cat-and-mouse chase if the female lead had been anyone else, literally anyone else. The way she plays the detective makes the viewer, at least this one, not want to root for her.

She comes across as a scheming, cold, know-it-all, selfish woman

Yes, she’s with the police, and what she does is good, but the way she does it is horrible! I don’t like her, and I don’t care for her either. Because of that, I feel like a lot of us watching the show will root for the Jackal.

And I know I’m not the only one

He’s everything she’s not, even though he’s a killer. I don’t want her to succeed in her mission, and I don’t want the Jackal to get caught. I don’t think that’s how it should be, but that’s how I feel.

At first glance, she’s getting close to him

Unfortunately, if she does, it’s going to make me want to stop watching this show. And it’s a shame, because he’s incredible in this role!
